Pendleton-Clemson Waste Treatment Upgrade

The Waste Treatment Facility is owned by the Town of Pendleton and is jointly maintained by the Town of Pendleton and the City of Clemson. The plant is a 2 million gallons per day (mgd) facility which means the plant can treat up to 2 mgd of sewage.

Due to more stringent discharge limits imposed by SC DHEC, and to improve overall reliability and operations of the facility, the town is in the process of upgrading the plant.

The project cost is $5,300,000. The town has been awarded stimulus money in the amount of $3,150,000 and an ARC grant of $500,000. A State Revolving Fund loan was awarded to the town in the amount of $1,650,000. at a 3.5% rate for 20 years. The City of Clemson will pay 50% of the loan, Anderson County will pay 5% and Pendleton will pay 45%.
